#1 Today’s lesson was all about the final plague that the Lord God sent to Egypt. How many plagues were there in total?
Yes, there were 10 plagues in total. God’s people were being held as slaves in the land of Egypt. The Lord God sent Moses to speak to Pharaoh and ask him to let God’s people go free, but Pharaoh refused to listen and mocked the Lord. The Lord sent plagues to show Pharaoh how powerful He was and that He was the true God of heaven and earth. But even though he saw many mighty acts Pharaoh refused to believe and hardened his heart.
#2 God told His people that he would send one last plague and that after this Pharaoh would let the people go? What was this plague?
Yes, the angel of death went through the land of Egypt that night and many eldest sons across the land were killed. How sad that Pharaoh’s stubborn heart of unbelief led to such severe punishments been given.
#3 God provided a way for the eldest sons to be saved when the angel of death visited. He told the people to choose a lamb from their flocks and kill it, cook it and eat it. He also told them to do something special with the lamb’s blood. What sort of lamb was to be used?
Yes, the lamb chosen was to be a healthy, perfect, spotless lamb. This is because the lamb is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ who was also perfect.
#4 What special thing did God command the people to do with the lamb’s blood?
They were to paint the lamb’s blood on the door frames of their house as a sign that they trusted in God and had obeyed His command.
#5 What happened to the eldest son in the houses of the Israelites who had obeyed God and painted the lamb’s blood on their door frames?
They were saved and did not die. God never breaks His promises and if we trust in Him then He will surely save us from our sins just as He saved the Israelite sons.
#6 The Bible tells us that the Passover lamb was a picture of The Lord Jesus Christ. We have already thought about how the spotless lamb was a picture of how the Lord Jesus Christ was perfect and sinless. How else is the Passover lamb a picture of Jesus?
Yes, these are all ways in which the Passover lamb is a picture of how the Lord Jesus Christ would come to earth many years later to die on the cross. He was punished for the sins of all those who trust in Him so that they can go free.
#7 Why did Jesus come and die on the cross?
Yes, What a wonderful Saviour He is. He loves us so much even though we don’t love Him as we ought.
#8 After the Angel of Death visited the land of Egypt the people were set free from slavery. What blessings will we know if we come and trust Christ?
Yes, coming to Christ brings us so many wonderful blessings. What a kind and gracious Saviour He is.
