All of the above are true. Mary wanted to listen to the gracious words of the Lord Jesus Christ more than anything else. We should all be like Mary and listen to what He has to say to us through reading our Bibles and listening to the Sunday School lessons.

#3 Why was Martha upset and complaining to Jesus about Mary talking with Him?

She wanted to clean and tidy her house and prepare a meal and Mary was not helping her

Martha was in a hurry to go and visit their sick grandma and was waiting for Mary to join her

She had food in the oven ready for Mary to eat and it would ruin if Mary did not come quickly

Martha was jealous as her sister did not show her so much attention as she was giving Jesus

Martha wanted to do the everyday chores around the house and perhaps prepare a meal for their important visitor, but Mary was talking to Jesus instead of helping her. This annoyed Martha as she thought Mary should help her with the hard work.

#4 How did Jesus react to Martha’s complaining?

He ignored her and carried on talking to Mary

He told her to leave the room and leave them to talk in peace

Jesus was kind and understanding but firm in His reaction to Martha

Jesus reacted in a kind and understanding way towards Martha. But He was also firm with her and said that her sister had chosen to do the right thing by listening to Him. Martha should have done what her sister did and listened to Jesus instead of busying herself with household chores.

#5 Why did Mary do the right thing and listen to Jesus?

Jesus was telling her very important things such as how she could have her sins forgiven and to receive everlasting life

It enabled her to get out of helping her sister do the household chores

Jesus promised to make her rich and famous

Jesus healed her blindness during the conversation

Mary made the correct choice to listen to Jesus as He told her how she could have her sins forgiven and receive everlasting life by believing on Him.

#6 How should you react when you learn about Jesus in Sunday school?

Go home and forget what you have been told

Believe what you have heard and trust in Jesus as your own Lord and Saviour

Look out of the window and think about your Sunday dinner

Pretend to listen carefully to make the teachers happy

Believe what the teachers are telling you and repent of your sins. That is to change the way you live your life so that it is pleasing to God and to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and love Him with all your heart – to become a Christian.

#7 What happens if you don’t want to listen to what you are taught in Sunday school and ignore God’s command to repent?

You will die and nothing else will happen to you

God will have pity on you and invite you to Heaven anyway

Almighty God will justly send you to Hell for refusing to repent of your sins

When you die you think you will be with your friends so you don’t care what happens

If you die with your sins not having been forgiven by the Lord Jesus Christ, you cannot enter Heaven. You will instead be found guilty of breaking God’s laws and be cast into hell forever by a just and righteous God.
