Well done. If you remember one thing from today’s quiz it should be that Jesus Christ is the only One who can, and Who is willing to, save you from your sins.

Not the best effort. If you remember one thing from today’s quiz it should be that Jesus Christ is the only One who can, and Who is willing to, save you from your sins.

next

#1 Have you watched this week’s lesson?

We shouldn’t need to ask really, should we?!

next

#2 John the Baptist described the Lord Jesus is as the Lamb of God. What did John say that Jesus would take away?

John told the gathered crowds that Jesus would take away the sins of the world, meaning that people from every country around the globe would believe and repent and have their sins taken away.

next

#3 Who do our lives belong to?

Our lives, just like everything else in His creation, really belong to God, the One Who made us.

next

#4 If you borrow something precious and expensive from a friend and don’t take care of it, but break, damage or ruin it, what should you do?

Of course you should admit what you have done and apologise. So it is with our lives, which we have been given by God. If we ruin and spoil what he has given us then we must admit all our wicked ways and say sorry. Only by repenting (turning away from our sinful ways) and trusting in Him can we be saved from all our sin and its consequences.

next

#5 Our lives are loaned to us by God and we enjoy all the good things he has made for us. Lots of people live there lives as if God doesn’t exist and rebel against God. What will happen at the end of their life?

Not only will they be without excuse, the Bible tells us that on that last dreadful day of judgement, they will be speechless. But that is not what the Lord God wants. He does not want to have to send people away to hell as punishment for their sins. He is a loving God and longs to save people. Jesus said that every time someone repents and believes that great rejoicing breaks out in Heaven. The Lord God is waiting for you to repent and believe too.

next

#6 How do we know the difference between right and wrong?

God’s commandments have been written in the Bible and in our hearts. There really is no excuse for not knowing that we are all sinner and that we all need to be saved.

next

#7 Sin is often compared to a disease in the Bible. Why is that?

Sin is a disease of the heart that spreads and worsens as we get older. If we do not get it treated and cured by the Lord Jesus, then it will lead to us being separated from God and all His goodness forever. (That is what ‘death’ means: being separated.)

next

#8 Why did John the Baptist call the Lord Jesus as the Lamb of God?

God had taught the people of Israel all about the sacrifice of a coming Saviour through the ritual animal sacrifices of the Old Testament era. Those animals were killed after the people had confessed their sins and put their hands on the animal’s head, showing that sin must be punished by death, but that God would accept the death of another. No one thought that the animal’s death would save them from their sins because they knew that what they were doing pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ – the Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world.

#2 What does a farmer hope to see, when he checks his fruit trees?

A farmer hopes to see that his trees look healthy, that they are growing and producing good fruit.

next

#3 What does God love to see, when He looks at our lives?

The Lord God loves to see people who truly believe.  People who only think about the Lord Jesus for a little while on a Sunday, and only pray when they are in trouble, are not real Christians.

next

#4 Can I hide my thoughts from the Lord Jesus Christ?

No!  The Lord can see everything in our hearts – we can have no secrets from Him.

next

#5 If we are a true Christian, our lives will show ‘fruit’. This includes:

Christians do still sin (often).  But the Lord God gives all Christians a new heart, so that they will become kind, they will love to keep God’s commandments, and they will be very sad when they do things that are wrong.

next

#6 Does that mean that if I try to be kind to people, God will let me go to Heaven?

No matter how hard we try, we can never be good enough to please God.  There is only one way we can get to Heaven, and that is by repenting, and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.  No-one except the Lord Jesus has ever lived a perfect life.

next

#7 What will happen to someone who never believes in Jesus, and never bears fruit for Him?

God is full of kindness and love, but He is also holy (perfect).  If someone never cares about the Lord Jesus, God cannot let them in to Heaven.

next

#8 This means that I must seek the Lord Jesus:

Seeking the Lord Jesus is too important to put off – we must seek Him now!

next

#9 Who is a truly rich person?

A Christian has great riches, including forgiveness of sins, peace with God, a Heavenly Friend, a place in heaven and many others.  These are worth much more than money, and they cannot be taken away.  If someone has lots of money, they may not be very happy, and when they die, it will all be left behind.

#2 In our lessons we have been thinking about Heaven. How does the Bible describe Heaven?

God tells us a lot about Heaven in the Bible. We will never be able to fully understand what it is really like, but we can be sure that it is a sinless and glorious place where all suffering and sorrow are absent. The most wonderful thing about Heaven is that God is there.

next

#3 Who in the Bible described themselves as ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’?

The Lord Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”

next

#4 The Bible tells us that God waits to welcome us into Heaven. Who will God allow into Heaven?

next

#5 The Bible tells us that we all have sin in our hearts and that the Lord God can not allow sin into Heaven. How is it possible that we can still go to Heaven?

We don’t deserve anything from God. We have broken His commandments and lived lives that offend Him. However, God is love and so He loves sinners and has made a Way for us to be saved and go to Heaven.

next

#6 The Bible tells us that we all have sin in our hearts and that the Lord God can not allow sin into Heaven. How is it possible that we can still go to Heaven?

next

#7 What will happen to those who have not repented of their sins when they die?

Although it may not be something that we like to hear, it is something that we need to hear and God in His great love has given us many warnings. We must repent and believe and escape the punishment that our lives deserve.

next

#8 Why are true Christians not afraid of dying?

If God promises something then it is certain because He cannot lie and is never wrong. If He has said that all His people will go to be with Him in Heaven, then they KNOW that they will go there when they leave this world.

#2 What were Lazarus’ sisters called?

Mary and Martha were Lazarus’s sisters. They both loved their brother and they were all good friends with, and loved Jesus too.

next

#3 Which one of Lazarus’s sisters showed greater faith towards Jesus and why?

Martha believed and trusted that Jesus was the Son of God and that he could do anything if He asked His Father in Heaven.

But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee”

John Ch.11 V.22

“And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me”

John Ch.11 V.41

next

#4 Lazarus had been dead for four days before Jesus arrived. What did Jesus do when he learned that His good friend Lazarus had died?

Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead and brought him back to life. It was a miracle and many of those who witnessed it were amazed and believed that He was the Son of God and became Christians.

Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him”

John Ch.11 V.45

next

#5 Why did Jesus wait several days before going to bring Lazarus back to life?

If Jesus had gone to Lazarus immediately and healed his sickness before he had died, people would not have been very amazed. But to see Jesus Christ bring Lazarus back to life after he had been dead for many days was truly miraculous. No one but God could have done this.

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew Ch.19 V.26

next

#6 We are all born with a sickness that no doctor can ever cure – what is this disease that affects us both physically and mentally and will lead to our eternal death in Hell unless we are healed through Gods grace?

Sin. We are all born with a sinful nature and are each responsible for all the sinful things we do and think. God hates sin and unless we turn to God in true heartfelt repentance (a change from living a sinful and selfish life to loving, trusting and glorifying Almighty God) our sin will result in everlasting punishment and separation from God.

Jesus said “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish”

Luke Ch. 13 V.5

next

#7 Jesus Christ healed Lazarus from the dead and brought him physically back to life. What has Jesus Christ done which is even more amazing and glorious than this?

Jesus Christ lived a perfect sinless life and then willingly died on the cross in unimaginable pain and suffering so that our sins could be forgiven. He was also resurrected (brought back to life) by the Holy Spirit (God), so that if by His grace (undeserved love) we are enabled to repent and believe on Him, we will have everlasting life with Him in Heaven. What can be more amazing and glorious than this!

Jesus said “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”

John Ch.3 v.3

(Once spiritually dead, but ‘born again’ with the Holy Spirit and a new life in Christ)

next

#8 How should we think about death?

Death will happen to all of us and we should be very concerned for our souls which will never die. After our physical bodies die, we will have to face Almighty God in judgement and give an account of our lives to Him. We must therefore seek the Lord Jesus Christ with all our heart and trust in His mercy so that our sins may be forgiven and our souls saved from eternal punishment.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement”

Hebrews Ch.9 v. 27

Well done! One final question: is the Lord Jesus Christ your Good Shepherd?

Hmm, not so good. Before you have another go, here’s one final question: is the Lord Jesus Christ your Good Shepherd?

next

#1 Have you watched this week’s lesson?

Just making sure!

next

#2 In this week’s lesson, Jesus is described as the Good Shepherd. What type of people were shepherds?

Shepherds spent most of their time with their flocks in all weathers and seasons, day and night. There were thieves, wild animals and many other dangers to contend with while they kept their sheep safe, so they were most definitely tough and brave people.

next

#3 Why do sheep need a shepherd?

Sheep without a shepherd would be in a lot of difficulty, especially in a desert country with wild animals and thieves on the prowl, so they depend on their shepherd for everything.

next

#4 The Lord Jesus was often followed by a big crowd of people. How did He think of those people?

The Lord Jesus feels the same about us – that we are like sheep without a shepherd. He is full of love and compassion when He sees how much we need Him and longs for us to be part of His flock.

next

#5 A shepherd would put his own life at risk to save his sheep. If we are compared to the sheep, what do we need to be saved from?

We are all lost, unfulfilled, injured, in danger and full of sin. There is no one who can cure the disease of sin except the Lord Jesus Christ.

next

#6 How has the Lord Jesus saved Christians from sin and death?

It was the only way that sin could be punished and guilty sinners saved from the punishment that they deserve, so the Lord Jesus came into the world to be one of us and to suffer in our place.

next

#7 If we are all like sheep, needing the Lord Jesus to be our Good Shepherd to save us, how do we find Him?

We must listen to His call with our hearts as well as our ears.

#2 What is a miracle?

A miracle is definitely NOT magic. Jesus did many miracles – for example, He healed great numbers of sick people.  He even raised people from the dead. Only Jesus (who is the Son of God) could do this.

next

#3 What was the matter with the man who met Jesus in today’s lesson?

The man had been blind ever since he was born.

next

#4 The Bible tells us that in one sense we are all blind. This means that, if we do not have the Lord Jesus as our Saviour ……

All these are true, and more besides. If we do not know the Lord Jesus Christ for ourselves, we are blind to all the important things in life.

next

#5 What did the man have to do, before he could see?

He had to go and wash, and when he went to do that, he showed that he trusted what Jesus had told him to do.

next

#6 The Lord Jesus Christ has done everything necessary for us to be saved. What must I do, if I want Jesus to save me.

It is good to come to Sunday school, and to be kind, but those things do not make us a Christian. We must repent (be truly sorry for our sin), and believe in the Lord Jesus.  Then He will save us, for now, and for ever.

next

#7 What did the man do next?

He wanted to serve the Lord for the rest of his life. Every Christian is the same – once we know that the Lord Jesus has saved us, we want to please him.

next

#8 At the time of this miracle, Jesus said, ‘I am the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ of the world’. The missing word is:

Jesus is the Truth and the Way too, but when He did this miracle, He showed that He truly is the Light of the world.

You should definitely watch the lesson first!

#2 In today’s lesson we heard about how crowds of people came to hear the Lord Jesus preaching. Only one boy brought food with him which the Lord Jesus used to feed the people. What food did the boy bring with him?

The only person in that huge crowd who had some food with them was a little boy who had 5 barley loaves and 2 fish.

next

#3 How many people did the Lord Jesus feed with that food?

There were 5000 men without counting the women and children.

next

#4 How many baskets of leftover food did the disciples collect?

The 12 baskets of leftovers was more food than at the start! The Lord Jesus had done a most wonderful miracle.

next

#5 How was Jesus able to perform such an amazing miracle?

The Lord Jesus was no ordinary man. He was (and is) the Creator God and could do anything.

next

#6 Why does The Lord Jesus describe himself as ‘The Bread of Life’?

We all know what it is to have an empty stomach – to need food to satisfy our rumbling tummies! Similarly, our soul is empty and needs something to satisfy it. People try all sorts of different things like money, careers, possessions, fun and entertainment, but the emptiness always returns sooner or later. The only One Who can give us what we really need and truly satisfy our needy souls for ever is the Lord Jesus. That is why He called Himself the Bread of Life.

next

#7 How can we obtain spiritual life from the Lord Jesus?

“Repent and believe!” It is so simple – even simpler than going to the shop to buy bread – and we will have the love of Jesus in our hearts, a deep peace that will never fade, a hope that cannot be measured and a joy that is impossible to describe. What a Saviour!

next

#2 Why did Jesus visit the well?

Jesus had been on a long and tiring journey. He had stopped at the well to have a rest and a refreshing drink of water.

next

#3 Jesus met a woman at the well. Where had the woman come from?

The woman was from a city called Sychar which was in a country called Samaria. People who lived in Samaria were known as Samaritans. You may remember the story of the ‘good Samaritan’ in the Bible from a previous lesson.

next

#4 Jesus asked the Samarian woman if she could give Him some water to drink. She was very surprised that He had spoken to her in such a friendly way. Why was she surprised?

Jewish people did not speak to, or want to have anything to do with the Samaritans as they did not like them. The woman was therefore very surprised when Jesus spoke to her in a friendly way.

next

#5 We can drink water which quenches our thirst for a little while, but Jesus can give us ‘living water’ so that we will never thirst again. What is this ‘living water’ that only Jesus Christ can give?

When sinners trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of their sinful lives, He forgives all of their sins and ‘saves’ them from the power of sin and the Devil. He also gives them the Holy Spirit and promises them everlasting life.

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (forgiveness) of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” Acts Ch. 2 vs 38

next

#6 Whenever we use water at home it costs money which has to be paid to the water company. What do we owe God if he saves us and gives us His ‘living water’ for ever?

A saved sinner is unable to give God anything. God’s gift of salvation is free and unconditional. He saves His people out of His incredible love for them. A Christian seeks to praise, love and glorify God for His unspeakable gift, desiring to please their loving Father in Heaven.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians Ch. 2 vs 8-9.

next

#7 The Samarian woman told Jesus that she thought He was a prophet. Why did she think this?

Jesus knew that the woman had been married to five husbands. She knew that no man could have known this unless they were a prophet. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, knows everything about all of us. He knows all of the bad things we have ever thought and done (sins). We must therefore turn to Him and plead for His forgiveness and mercy.

“..but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews Ch. 4 vs 13

next

#8 Do the things of this world really make you happy or are you always looking for something else to excite or entertain you, with no lasting happiness or joy?

The world is full of sin which becomes more troubling as you get older. People are forever seeking more exciting and fun things to do, but the excitement never lasts, and in the end have nothing to show for their lives. There is only one way to find true peace and happiness in this world, and in the world to come. That is by believing and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ and ‘drinking’ this Living water.

Then shall the dust (our body) return to the earth as it was: and the spirit (our soul) shall return unto God who gave it. Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher, all is vanity.” Ecclesiastes Ch. 12 vs 7-8

next

#9 Water washes dirt from the outside of our bodies so we can look clean to others around us. However, we are all dirty and polluted with sin inside, where only Almighty God can see it. How can our sins be cleansed and washed from inside us?

Jesus Christ is the only One who can wash away our sins: we cannot do it ourselves, however good we try to be. King David repented with great sorrow after he had sinned against God and said “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow” Psalm 51 vs 4

Well done! Have you realised that God is calling you, trusted His promises and asked Him to save you? If you have then you will know what it’s like to have your prayers answered and experience everything in your life working out for the best, just like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph did.

Perhaps you should have another try! Have you realised that God is calling you, trusted His promises and asked Him to save you? If you have then you will know what it’s like to have your prayers answered and experience everything in your life working out for the best, just like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph did.

next

#1 Have you watched this week’s lesson?

Although it’s revision week, you should definitely still watch the lesson!

next

#2 Over the last few weeks, we have learned about a very famous family, whose history and God’s plan for them is told in the first book of the Bible. What is the first book of the Bible?

Of course it’s Genesis! God used Moses to write the book of Genesis around 4000 years ago.

next

#3 The first member of the family we learned about was Abraham, who was called by God to make a long journey to a promised land. Why did Abraham follow God’s instruction?

Abraham was a man of faith and knew that God would keep His promises and protect him and provide for him wherever he was.

next

#4 God put Abraham’s faith to the test in a particular way; what was the test?

Abraham was prepared to do what God commanded and trusted that God had a plan even though he didn’t know what it was. When God stopped Abraham and provided a ram for the sacrifice to take Isaac’s place, it gives a picture to us of what the Lord Jesus did on the cross.

next

#5 We learned about Abraham’s nephew, Lot, who had a choice to make between following his uncle’s example, or taking what looked like an easier way, which he thought would make him rich and successful. How did Lot’s choice work out?

Lot’s selfish choice turned out to be disastrous for him and his family. If we turn away from the Lord and go our own way we will find the same thing: that life without God is empty and bitter, hopeless and cruel.

next

#6 Abraham’s son, Isaac, needed to find a wife. How did they go about finding someone for him to marry?

God answered their prayer in a most wonderful way, and He will also answer our prayers if we really mean them.

next

#7 Isaac married Rebekah and they had twin sons, Esau, the eldest by a few minutes, and Jacob. Esau should have inherited the family goods and especially God’s promises to the family. Did Esau take this seriously and what happened to the inheritance?

Because he didn’t care much about his part in God’s plan, Esau was prepared to swap it for a bowl of soup! He is a warning to us not to dismiss God’s love and mercy.

next

#8 Because Jacob had tricked his father and made his brother Esau so angry that he threatened to kill him, he had to run away. On his journey, he had to sleep in the open. How did God speak to him?

God sent Jacob a dream about a ladder reaching up to Heaven and angels going up and down the ladder. We learnt that the dream is a picture to us of the cross of Jesus which has made it possible for us to reach Heaven and brings God’s love down to earth.

next

#9 Jacob was away for over 20 years before he decided to return home, having become prosperous, hoping to be reconciled with Esau and bringing him many gifts. The night before he met Esau, he had a wrestling match; who did he wrestle with and why?

Jacob wrestled all night until the sun started to rise in the morning. We learnt from Jacob that if we really want to have our sins forgiven and have the Lord Jesus save us then we need to keep praying and not let Him go until He has forgiven and saved us.

next

#10 Jacob has returned home happily and is back in the Promised Land, with his large family. Who was Jacob’s favourite son and how did that son make his family angry?

Jacob loved Joseph more than his other sons because he saw that Joseph loved and trusted God and wanted to do what was right. He even made Joseph a special coat of many different colours. When Joseph had his dreams about the sheaves and the stars he realised that they were from God and didn’t mind what his brothers said about him or thought of him. We learnt that sometimes we worry too much about what other people think and not enough about what God thinks, and that we should ask the Lord to help us to be more like Joseph.

next

#11 Joseph’s brothers sell him into slavery because they are so jealous of him. His life has lots of ups and downs, he becomes head of his master’s household, but then goes to prison and finally ends up as Prime Minister of Egypt. What do these events teach Joseph?

Joseph went through many difficult times in his life, but he remained content and joyful through them all because he knew that God was with him and would help and protect him. He also trusted that God had a special plan just for him and we learnt that if we become a true Christian then the same will be true for us too.

next

#12 This series of lessons about Abraham and his many descendants has taught us a lot about this family’s history. Although they lived thousands of years ago, people are still the same today, wherever they live, rich and poor, boys and girls. What do these lessons teach us today?

We have been taught many vital lessons in this series. Hopefully you have got 12/12 in this quiz…!
